About the Artist

Kodanda Rao Teppala

Vadodara-based Andhra painter and printmaker Kodanda Rao Teppala (b. 1979) uses vibrant colour combinations, crowds of people, landscapes, and architectural elements to create visually charged paintings. Building compositions using a vast archive of collected images, Teppala talks of freedom in relation to one’s environment. His work brings together temporary communities to create transitory situations, such as passengers embarking on a plane, congregations around a red globe, and trapeze artists falling through a blue space. Teppala is inspired by the philosophy of Buddhism and the lessons it teaches on the nature of being.
