About the Artist

Ashima Raizada

A self-taught artist based in Chandigarh, Ashima Raizada (b.1994) experiments with diverse artistic mediums. While her photographic and drawing practice emerged out of her curiosity and play with Instagram, her paintings stem from a specific invocation of feminist subjectivity. Her art moves between the microplane of the beauty of the intimate painted human body to the macroplane of the diptychs showing the human body in its surroundings, often with humour and irony.  A distinct quality of Raizada’s practice is a spirit of openness, which enables her to simultaneously navigate different artistic styles.
