About the Artist

Tauseef Khan

New Delhi-based artist Tauseef Khan engages with monuments through the painterly language of hyper-realism. Khan’s work seamlessly interlaces his interest in Dutch still life painting and his fascination with the historical monuments in India and beyond. For Khan, history is not as straightforward as the monumental architectures portray, it is for him muffled and multifaceted, as echoed by his paintings. In a practice that spans over a decade, Khan's paintings includes major monuments in the country such as Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb, Hawa Mahal, Gateway of India (Mumbai), Mysore Palace, and iconic buildings such as Victoria Terminus station, and the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. He has now ventured onto painting the Colosseum in Rome, the London Tower Bridge and a few other iconic cathedrals in Milan.
