Active since 2013

Simmi Khanna (b. 1965) is a visual artist based in Delhi, whose extensive travels to various cities and industrial towns have infused her artworks with urban landscapes and structures, often unconsciously. The artist endeavours to depict the complexities of modern city life through her work. Khanna does not meticulously plan her compositions; rather, her artworks evolve intuitively over time, reflecting her use of diverse materials. Working in mixed media, she incorporates found objects such as hangtags, expired credit/ATM cards, garment wash care labels, dried acrylic paint blobs, wrappers, magazine/newspaper clippings, POP, house paint, candle wax, nylon mesh, acrylics, oil paints, scraps of bandage/cloth, twigs, and threads. She believes this creative process is deeply rooted in her upbringing.
Khanna’s works were recently featured in an exhibition Real at The Stainless Gallery curated by Matters of Art, Anoop Kamath (2024). She has also exhibited her solo show Urban Chaos at Triveni gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, Delhi (2023); group show Diversities at Sridharani gallery, Triveni Kalasangam, Delhi (2022). Khanna has participated in VAMA at Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi (2024); 63rd National Exhibition by Lalit Kala Akademi (2023); 95th Annual All India Art Exhibition by the AIFACS (2022).
