Shiven Tanwar (b. 1984) is a visual artist based in Greater Noida, India, whose artistic practice revolves around capturing fleeting moments of the natural world through his landscapes. As urbanisation encroaches upon vast expanses of nature in the name of progress, Tanwar reflects on whether future generations will have the opportunity to experience nature as we have. His artworks serve as a reflection of the visual data he gathers from his travels, news reports, blogs, and organisations dedicated to documenting changes in the planet's topography. They stand as a testament to the existence of nature as we perceive and cherish it. Tanwar's miniature landscapes serve as a response to the consequences of global warming, climate change, and escalating carbon emissions. They underscore the profound connection between nature and our daily lives—a synchronicity that humanity has long been destined to uphold but is rapidly diminishing due to our ever-expanding desires.
Tanwar acquired his Bachelor's Degree in Printmaking from Government College of Art, Chandigarh (2008) and Masters of Visual Arts (M.VA) in Printmaking from M.S. University, Baroda (2010). His works have been exhibited in several shows in various Indian cities, state exhibitions and international expositions such as Lockdown Diaries at Govt Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh (2022); All India Art Exhibition, NDMC, New Delhi (2014) & 49th National Exhibition of Art, Bhopal (2006). He was also awarded Gold medal by Sunanda Pathi Foundation at National Exhibition of Children Art, Orissa (1990).
