Rohan Dahiyaverified

Active since 2016

Rohan (b.1999) is a New Delhi based interdisciplinary Visual Artist and an Art Educator, whose interest aligns with fields of Psychodynamics and Post-Internet movement. These concepts help him to understand the unconscious and subconscious state of the human mind with the help of an organised and efficient approach. His research-based art practice is located at the intersection of Arts, Sciences, and Technology, exploring software and computer-based intervention in critical creative expression. Rohan documents the subject matter in a real space with his lens and then digitally manipulates them by adding and subtracting captured elements through a mixed-media methodology. His multifaceted artworks seek to visually-map, decode, and (re)interpret the cultural notions, neuro-psychological anatomy and machine-driven aesthetics that are situated within the hyper-mediated environments we inhabit. Thereby, he subsequently navigates spatial renegotiations between the precision of ‘programmed’ logic and the organic ‘unpredictability’ of human-intervention within the Post-Digital.

Rohan has done MFA in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan and is a UGC-NET qualified Visual Art Practitioner.

Over the years he has conducted and participated in several workshops like Painting and Printmaking SUPVA (2017), Photography and Sculpture SUPVA (2018), Art Direction and Set Production Design Workshop, State Institute of Film & TV, SUPVA (2020), Experimental A/V Collaborative art Project, Uthon Collective, Birbhum & Presence as Absence with Sanchayan Ghosh (utilizing Silk-screen printing), Chennai Photo Biennale x Goethe-Institut Chennai (2021), Rethinking Pedagogical practices at Future Learning Institutions, SMI Live: Interlude, Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology, Bangalore (2022), Understanding Art Therapy with Subhra Banerjee & Srikanta Paul, Kala Bhavana (2022), Ways of Thinking & Perceiving Objects: Workshop with N.S.
