About the Artist

Susanta Kumar Panda and Ramakanta Samantaray

From Odisha, Susanta Kumar Panda (b. 1982) and Ramakanta Samantaray (b. 1972) lived close to the Garden of Five Senses in the Saidulajab village of New Delhi in 2014. During this time it was their habit to take daily evening strolls in the garden and thus grew their shared interest in the close exploration of nature. Their study of birds, flowers, and leaves, their interactions with naturalists and ornithologists, resulted in a series of realistic collaborative paintings that highlight the perfect beauty of nature and the fatality of unchecked rampant urban expansion.
