Jyotiprakash Sethyverified

Active since 2013

Jyotiprakash Sethy (b.1985), originating from Odisha, primarily explores abstract forms through the medium of soft pastels. Sethy's body of work endeavours to articulate his personal interpretation of urbanisation culture, portraying the hustle and bustle of daily life. Preferring to disconnect from the urban chaos, he embraces solitude, allowing his mind and body to seek equilibrium. Employing a meticulous layering technique, Sethy gradually builds up his compositions before delicately erasing each layer, revealing inner moments and imbuing his works with a soft, luminous motion and vibrant tones. His art serves as a reflection on the human experience, encompassing past, present, and future endeavours and struggles. By observing the intricacies of human existence, Sethy explores themes of time, effort, and adversity, often integrating imagery that reflects the complexities of contemporary life. This introspective approach draws parallels with past cultures, where the passage of time held deeper philosophical significance. Looking ahead, Sethy intends to venture into new artistic territories, experimenting with oils and linen mediums to further enrich his creative repertoire.
Sethy has earned both his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Behrampur University (2006) and completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) from Utkal University (2010).
